My First Reading
Well, am I excited or what!? I have just had some amazing feedback on ‘Caterpillars CANNOT FLY! from the staff and pupils of ‘Little Beehive Nursery’ in Montrose, and I have arranged my very first reading with them next week. This will be my first ever reading… One of the children at Little Beehive Nursery took a copy of the book in prior to my visit and I had been given the following feedback.
Pupils
he had wings and he flied
I liked the turn in to a butterfly
When it goes into the butterfly
The butterfly was nice but the froggy wasn’t
He turned into a butterfly
11/11
Staff
I like the way it rhymes and the message it is portraying to the children
We have had a copy of your book and both staff and children have loved reading this….with lots of positive feedback! At first glance I felt it was a little long but was mistaken as the children have kept focused during readings are able to recall key parts of the story. I will be placing an order for our own copy this week
Post UPDATE:
I have now completed my first reading which was really nice. I forgot how small nursery furniture was 😀
The children all listened all the way through the story, and some even helped when it came to ‘Caterpillars CANNOT FLY! and they NEVER EVER will!’ parts. After the story the children asked questions and told me what their favourite parts were which was great. Then, as the staff had already downloaded and printed off some resources from my website, the children coloured in. Here are a few of the completed works. I was very impressed with the focus and concentration on the task from the whole class, it was very noticeable.
The staff at the nursery we very nice too, knowing this was my first reading they certainly helped put my mind at ease and made me feel very welcome, thank you 🙂
